I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for supporting the striders ‘Sports Day’ event on the 6th July - the evening was a great success.
The results are…
Simon won the 100 metres men’s sprint in 12.85secs and the 1600m in 6:13.
Mark’s team won the Egg & Spoon Race.
The erotically charged women’s tug-o-war was won by Pippa and Wendy.
The men’s tug-o-war was won by any team that had Simono as the anchor.
The Kick Rounders winning team consisted of Pippa, Wendy, Stephen, Ryan, Adam, James & Simono.
Pippa won the 100m women’s sprint with a look in her eye that chilled me to my very core.
Steve, James and Gary won the 3x400 metre relay
Highlights of the evening including: -
Simono’s amazing 50 metre throw which knocked over a chair.
Ryan’s tug-o-war slip – which resulted in a painful wedgie.
The twanging noise that Sharon’s hamstrings made during the 100m spring.
The awkward moment when we all picked up Simono for the photo opportunity – Paul did not appear comfortable with the area that he got to hold.
The serious faces of the runners juxtaposed with the incongruous pink cheerleader batons.
Special appearance from new Dad, Mark Shead, and his lovely baby Isabelle.
The rare occasion when Ryan stopped talking after the 100m race.
James Austin’s confusion when his egg split in too and wouldn’t fit back on the spoon.
The heart warming moment when Wendy chose love over winning.
Special thanks go to Wendy for the warm eggs, Adam for the prizes, spoons and batons, Pippa for the backup rope, Gary for his camera…and to Pete for volunteering as cameraman/referee.
Extra special thanks for to Simon MS for driving over from Soulbury just to loan us the tug-o-war rope.
