Sunday 13th June 2010 @ 15:00 - Spring BBQ with a Twist - Shenley Brook End

Dear Striders,

So here is the deal....

  • On Sunday 13th June at 15:00 we will meet at Shenley Brook End on the playing fields - On Garthwaite Crescent & Tacknell Drive.  There appears to be a car park there...but park there at your own risk.  View Larger Map
  • Everyone is to bring some drinks and some food, this will all be loaded into the back of Jo or Ryan's car for safe keeping.
  • All participants will be split into two teams and each team will be given different co-ordinates (see below for teams).
  • Using a handheld GPS system each team must run to their specific co-ordinates and there you will find a hidden box.
  • A photo of the group must be taken with the box as evidence.
  • The box should be opened and another set of co-ordinates will be hidden inside.
  • The group must then run to the second coordinates and recover the next box, again a photo must be taken and in this box will be a third set of co-ordinates.
  • The team will run again to the third location and recover another hidden box and co-ordinates; another photo must be taken.
  • The teams will run again to the fourth location and recover another hidden box and co-ordinates; another photo must be taken.
  • The fourth set of co-ordinates will reveal the location of the secret spring BBQ spot, each team will use this to run to this secret location and finally enjoy a BBQ and a picnic...if you fail to find the boxes, you don't get to attend.  I know this is cruel, but that is the game.
  • If you get stuck you can call Ryan for an extra clue.
  • Beware the hidden boxes will vary in size and shape from no bigger than the end of your finger to the size of a lunch box.
  • Photos are needed at every step of the way.

Provisions - to be handed to Ryan at 15:00 before the hunt starts at the Shenley Brook End playing fields.
Ryan - 2 disposable BBQs, veggie burgers & bottles of water.
Yasmin - Wine & Homemade Quiche
Mark & Jo - 2 disposable BBQs, plus drinks. 
Wendy & Stephen - Pork pie, sausage rolls, + dessert.
Pippa - 15 Sausages and bread rolls + drinks.
Becky - pasta salad all prepared by one of the friendly supermarkets plus wine of course!
Louise - 10 Sausages, bread rolls and tomato sauce.
Angela - large carrot and orange cake, some coleslaw.
Zulaika - 10 hamburgers and a tiramisu and some juice.
Vanessa - salad bits, doritos and dips + drinks.
Mel - 10 burgers, bread rolls + drinks.
James - 10 Sausages, bread rolls and tomato sauce, plus drinks.
Erica - Will surprise and delight us with her offering.
Ripal - Samosas and other Indian delights plus drinks.

Summer 2010 - Go Ape


Hi Striders,

Following the AGM meeting Pippa now has the details for Go Ape.

  • Price £30 per adult
  • Latest time slots for an evening session in late May / early June is 5pm (due to evening light available)
  • Course takes 2.5-3hrs to complete which includes the briefing session
  • Max number for any session is 14 people
  • If we had more than 14 people we would need to try and book 2 sessions alongside - this may mean half the group starts 30mins before the others
  • Payment is required in full when booking but reductions in numbers / cancellations can be made 48hrs before with a full refund
  • Less than 48hrs notice and no refund is given
  • I will need to know your top two preferred dates and times.

Once we have a general consensus we can call and book out slot.
